Cassie & Lyssa (Year 7. Completed)

"Now I see why you don't like falling," I commented once I was off the floor. "It really really hurts."

Once everyone had gotten over whatever shock they had been in to see me they started complaining. Cassie defended me, well more like she threatened them, but still. "Stop it," I told her. "I deserve everything they say. And hexing them would get you nowhere. Just leave it alone."

I rolled my eyes. "But freinds stick together and when have I ever backed down? Im a Gryffindor."

I smiled and turned to see Harry walking past the hall.

Stay here." I muttered leading her to a chair then racing out of the hall before she said anything.

"So Harry." I said. "Where do you think you are going?"

"Ahh...." He said sheepishly.

I looked at him suspiciously. "If you are heading to Voldemort, I may need to punch you."

"I dont want more people to die because of me." He muttered.

"Harry if you hand yourself over more people are going to die anyway. It's a die-die situation. No-one wins. No-one ever does in war. Ron deserves your comfort right now. He just lost his brother." I turned and walked back into the hall.

"You're being stupid again.." I said with a laugh. "I'm not worth it really. I'm not. Don't get people mad at you for standing up for me."

Cassie turned and I looked past her to see Harry. She helped me to a chair and with a pointless "stay here" she was gone after him. "Stay here she says," I muttered. "Well it's not like I could go anywhere anyways. I can't even fricking stand up."

I scowled at the doorway to the hall. I saw George standing away from his family, but close enough to me where he would hear me if I said something to him, so I did. "Hey George," I called.

He looked up at me and I could see he had been crying some. "What?" he asked back voice hoarse.

"I would say I know how you feel but…" I trailed off. "But I will say that I can imagine it. So if you want to talk to anyone well…"

He nodded at me with a trace of a smile. Nice to know he didn't hate me like some of the people in the room.

I heard footsteps and looked up to see Cassie had come back.

"People are always mad at me." I muttered coming back in and sitting down. I was in a hugging mood for a odd reason so I hugged George. "It will get better." I said and smiled as I noticed Harry come into the hall and walk over to where the Weasleys were. "Anyone got the tiem?" I asked. "I want to know how much longer we have untill Voldy enters." I trailed off and looked around the hall. "We're too young to be in a war." I said. I didnt want to look at the people who had died but couldn't help it. "Lupin." I said shocked seeing him lying on the ground next to him Tonks. "And Tonks. What about Teddy?" He'll grow up without any parents." I sighed and heard the clock chime. "So it's been a hour..."

I finally looked around at all the people in the room. Before I had just been focused on the Weasleys, but now… My eyes went wide. It was horrible. There was even people our age injured, and even dead. Cassie was right. We were too young to be in a war, but we had no choice. Remus, Tonks, Fred…a tear ran down my cheek. Then I realized something. "Cassie," I said to her, "do you happen to know where my wand went? If Voldemort's coming here, then I think I would need it. He's going to be pissed."

I frowned. "Umm..." I walked briskly out of the hall and scanned around on the floor. Picking up her wand and got back into the hall and gave it to her. "Are you alright to fight?" I asked her and heard the doors to the school slam open. "Well no time now." She got out and we walked out of the hall, everyone else was getting ready to enter the fight too.

"Even if I'm not I have to be," I said, taking my wand.

From outside the hall I heard the doors open. I got up, and walking, rather clumsily at the moment, went to the entrance hall with Cassie. And there was Voldemort, his followers fanned out behind him.

I nearly stumbled just as I reached the door and had to grab the frame to keep from falling again. Cassie gave me a look, like she was asking if I was really ok to fight.

"Melyssa." Voldemort snapped.

I snickered at the use of her full name, it didn't suit her, not in the slightest.

"Something funny Evans?" Snape sneered.

"Yes."

"What the bloody hell do you want?" I snapped back, still holding the doorframe.

"You gave me your word that you wouldn't get hurt." He was obviously mentioning the blood that was still on my shirt. Ew…

"Yeah, well you see, there's a problem with that. And with you for that matter, so just build a bridge and get over it. I'm not going to be a puppet anymore. You're not going to boss me around anymore," I finally let go of the doorframe and stood up on my own. "Soon you won't be doing anything anymore."

"So you think you can kill me?" he sneered back.

"I don't think it, I know it. And I never said it would be me. I just said you would be dying. Not that I wouldn't try for it to me that killed you, after all you've done to me and my family and my friends. I think I have a right to that. But regardless, you will die."

While Lyssa and Voldemort were argueing me and Snape were doing the same thing which was also fun. My eyes gleamed. I was probably going to really piss Voldemort and Snape off here.

"Oh I just thought of something. Snape and Voldemort, your blood is as pure as Harry Potters." I smiled wickedly.

Snape mearly scowled but Voldemort boiled up with rage. "You igsonificant little whelp." He thundered and pulled out his wand with some fancy wand movement that he thought was impressive. "How dare you-"

"How dare I what?" I sneered. "Just because someone says something offensieve doesn't mean you go kill them. You'd be dead 50 times over if that was the case."

"Enough of this!" Voldemort cried very suddenly, making several people cringe. "I've come here for one reason only. Hand over Harry Potter and none of you shall die."

"And just do you have to say for the ones who are already dead!" I yelled at him, shaking my head.

"They died because Harry Potter kept himself hidden from me. Just as more will now if he continues to do so."

I rolled my eyes. "Yep, Ok lets say I give you Harry Potter. You are not going to let me walk scotch free out of this hall. You're going to turn this world upside down and eliminate the people who fight against you. You'll change the world, you'll probably get ride of the other houses and have Slytherin as the only house." I said calmly. Everyone was watching us, talking to Voldemort as if we were little kids disobeying their parents.

"I see nothings changed." Snape sneered. "Didn't you learn you stupid Gryffindor that acting like a Gryffindor won't do you any good?"

"No." I said. "That's why I'm a Gryffindor. I'm too stuborn to learn from my mistakes even if they weren;t my fault."

"Being a Gryffindor means not being afraid! No matter what happens. Honestly," I said, "do you really think I would be standing here, and not over there, if I wasn't brave? All you have is a bunch of cowards behind you. They're all just to scared to oppose you like we're doing."

"If memory serves you were one of these so called cowards."

"To protect my brother! If not he would likely have died, because my father is too much a coward to oppose you when his family's in danger! The whole lot of you are pathetic," I looked at them with scathing eyes.

I smiled at my friend. "We'll protect what we've got with our lives." I said. "Even if it's making a choice we'll otherwise not take. The bunch of people behind you, the majority of them wouldn't be there if they had it their way. Except for maybe, Snape, Carrows and Bellatrix, they are just malevolent gits who like seeing people suffer. Your pathetic Tom, you rely on fear to get your way."

Out of the corner of my eye I saw Harry who was watching Voldemort. Voldemort raised his wand and Harry bolted through the croud and pushed me out of the way. "Avada kedavra." Voldemort shouted, he entended it to hit me but Harry having pushed me out of the way it hit him. Where were people either dying or nearly dying to save me? What was I to the world? Nothing. "Harry." I gasped catching him as his limp body fell.

Cries of "Harry!" rang throughout the room. My eyes widened in shock as I looked at Harry's body. It seemed unreal that it had hit him, after all that he had done and gotten through, that something as simple as two words could… I didn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. I stumbled against the doorframe, legs feeling weak again. And then the crowd started all getting angry at Voldemort. "You-" I paused, finding what I was going to say. "You imbecilic, malicious, sorry excuse for a person!" I cried at Voldemort. "You're so pathetic that comments are enough for you to kill someone! I'm appalled that one human- no you're not even human anymore- one creature could cause so much pain and suffering and misery! It's horrifying to think what power can do to a person, most particularly a person who is so full of hate and anger, with no release for it." I stopped, unable to say anymore without probably crying.

I listened as Lyssa ranted, still holding Harry, the boy who lived. Dead. And it was my fault. He died to save me. Tears started running down my face and I turned to give Voldemort a peice of my mind. "Why do you bother?" I shouted. "No-one likes you, no-one cares, go build a bridge and bloody jump off it. Why do you tear family's apart? Do you get pleasure in knowing the whole world is suffering because of you? In knowing that a mother will never see her son again? A brother will never see his sister? Children growing up without parents. And it's your fault, do you like that? You're a pathetic excuse for a human, for a wizard, you want other people to suffer because you grew up without a family."

I watched as Voldemort's face twisted in anger, but I'm sure mine and Cassie's were as well. It was a showdown between us three, everyone else just watched.

Voldemort raised his wand in his anger, but this time I cast a spell at him first making him change his plan, so he could protect himself against it.

"I don't suggest trying to cast any spells," I said. "It won't get you anywhere."

I was still crying. "You don't get it do you? Your life was misrable so you want everyone elses to be. Didn't anyone ever tell you life isnt fair? That it sucks?" I placed the dead Harry on the ground. "Your afraid of the world, Death, Darkness. There's nothing to be afriad of in both of them, I'm not afraid of Death, it doesn't mean I want to die," I bit my lip and saw Nagini slither in. "Lyss." I whispered so only she could hear me. You distract him, I'll get the snake."

I gave Cassie a brief, imperceptible nod, not even looking at her.

"You really think you have a chance to beat me, Melyssa?" Voldemort said, smirking.

I internally cringed at the use of my whole name. "It's not about winning or losing. It's never been. It's about standing up for what you believe in and defending it no matter what. I'm never going to run away like some scared little puppy! Not even from you."

Voldemort shook his head at me. "You're naïve. You truly believe that. It's those with power that take control. Not people with foolish dreams."

"You're wrong and you're mistake at not believing that a person with a dream can be the strongest person will cost you dearly."

Lyss distracted Voldemort and I muttered a hastly spell aiming my wand at the snake. The Snake got thrown up into the air and landed with a nasty thump back on the ground. Voldemort turned to the noise then back at me, I took a hasty step back at the look on his face but then stepped forward again. "I'm not afraid of you." I said boldly. Thats what he relyed on. fear. Take away the fear and he's nothing.

Just from that anger displayed on Voldemort's face I could guess that what Cassie did would benefit us in some way. I would ask later after all this was over.

"How dare you," he hissed, raising his wand.

Oh...ahh...crap. I needed to think fast, I was tired of people risking themselves to save me. I raised my wand and shouted the first spell I could think of. The one Snape and the Carrows had used against me in the months where me and Lyss hadn't been talking. Voldemort deflected it and shot the pretty blue one Lyss had cast earlier. I went wideeye. I couldn't duck it cause then it would hit someone behind me. Crap. A stupid idea came to my head but I couldn't think of anything better. "Expecto Patronum." I shouted. The small cat so much like me in my animagus form shot forward and got abosrbed in the spell. It stopped it from coming any closer, made it stop. It was hard to keep the patronus there, I ahd never managed it for more then fifteen seconds.

My eyes went wide. A Patronus? I had never thought anything could stop that spell. And then I realized what spell Voldemort had used. I scowled, but the momentary anger was forgotten when the Patronus disappeared and Cassie slumped on the ground, tired. Voldemort grinned at the opportunity and then there was a green streak. Eyes wide I sent my own back. They collided and went off in different directions, neither hitting anyone. "Don't you dare!" I shouted, shaking with anger as I pushed myself away from the doorframe.

My Patronus disapeared along with the spell and I fell so the ground exhusted. It had drained me, physicaly and magicaly. A green light was sent my way and Lyss threw one back. I was too tired to comprohend that she had used the killing curse.

Voldemort looked at me, glaring as I thwarted his attempt to kill Cassie, yet again. I smirked at him. "Shouldn't have taught me all that you did," I commented.

Scowling at me, he sent another curse. I deflected it again, but this time when mine bounced off it hit a Death Eater. I stumbled back a bit, eyes widening.
