Cassie & Lyssa (Year 7. Completed)

I sighed, grateful, when the bell rang and class was over. At least in DADA I would get to do something other than sulk.

We all filed in and sat down. The Carrow walked in to the front and started class by saying, "Today you all will be learning to properly cast the Cruciatus curse."

I flinched, "Over my dead body." I muttered.

I glared at the Carrow who was smiling wickedly.

This class was not destanced to be fun.

I stiffened in my chair. There was no bloody way I was doing that.

"You can't expect us to do that," one girl said. "It's illegal."

I scoffed. "It can doing anything it pleases. Voldemort's taken over the ministry and is getting stronger each day."

The Carrow glanced at Lyss.

"Well then Miss Malfoy prehaps you would like to go first."

I froze. Crap. I couldn't stand up for Lyss cause we were suppose to be fighting.

"Why don't you just do it Carrow." I snapped. "Since you seem to enjoy bringing pain so much."

"I would love to, but this is supposed to be an enlightening learning opportunity for yourselves," it replied. "Anyone who fails to attempt it will be put in detention and be forced to practice it there."

I tensed in my chair, trying to keep a neutral expression on my face. There was no bloody way...

Crap. Crap. Crap.

"You can't make me." I hissed. There was no bloody way I was using that spell.


Unless I did it at Carrow.

The Carrow, it seemed, chose to ignore Cassie's comment and insteard turned back to me.

"Well Miss Malfoy? We're all waiting."

"And just what am I supposed to cast it on?" I asked with a sneer. "You've neglected to say."

I scowled. Stupid bloody Carrow.

The Carrow smiled.

"How about Miss Evans?"

Craaap.

"No way in hell." I scowled.

I smirked and stood up from my chair, flipping my hair from my eyes.

"Fine then," I replied looking at her, eyes sad. "If you insist on it."

Hand shaking, I reached to get my wand.

I glanced at Lyss. Craap. This was not going to end well.

I scowled as I realized soemthing. It didnt hurt me. But if it didnt hurt me Lyss will have to do it again on someone else.

Stupid effing Carrow.

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. When I opened them I looked at Cassie.

Everyone was watching us with wide eyes.

I raised my wand and -trying to still my trembling hand- opened my mouth to say it, but nothing came out.

I rolled my eyes. As much as it pained me to see my best freind have to Crucio me. It was better to get it over and done.

"What can't you do it Malfoy?" I sneered.

"Of course I can," I snapped back instinctively. "It is just rather odd to be doing it for the first time in front of classroom full of people who stare!" I sent a glare out over the class.

I looked at the Carrow. "How about, instead of making us do in front of everyone, we go to say...your office and do it there, so that the wimps in the class don't faint or something."

The Carrow nodded with the idea. "That's doable," it said.

I fake smiled at him. "Thanks. Wouldn't do to have your students leaving the class because they fainted and failed to do what you've asked."

"Yes, you have a very valid point. You two follow me then."

Then he moved to his office, me and Cass following. It -hopefully- wouldn't be so hard now that there weren't so many people involved.

Once in the office the Carrow said, "I quite like the change in attitude Miss Malfoy. It suites you. Whatever caused it?"

"An eye opening experience," I replied.

"Very well then. You may proceed."

We followed the stupid Carrow to it's stupid office.

"Yea cause the more Death Eaters the merrier." I spat once we got into the office.

I glared daggers at the Death Eater but it didn't seem to notice.

I noticed, much to my disdain, that I was still shaking, even away from all the eyes. If anything it had gotten worse.

I subconsiously tightened my grip on my wand, so as to maybe stop that from shaking when I finally got around to doing what I had to.

I yawned. "Well this is fun. We've been here waht? A minute? and nothings happened yet."

I smiled innocently at the Carrow, who looked as if he wanted to hex me into oblivian.

I growled at her, raising my wand to point at her. "Are you really in that big of a hurry to be in pain?" I asked with a sneer. "That's somewhat masochistic."

I had focused my mind on something else, which stopped the shaking, but that still didin't mean I was 100% sure I could even do this.

"Well." I said. "I do have better things to do then wait for you to finish chickening out."

I knew I wasn't helping but I had gotten used to talking back that it came naturally.

Maybe making her annoyed would help. I didn't know.

"I'm not chickening out of anything," I snapped at her, glaring. "If you would like to know I was trying to be nice and prolong the issue. Just to see if you would cry or something at the prospect of all the pain you'd be in. But it seems all you know how to do is be sarcastic. And impatient."

Scowling on the outside, and being interally ripped apart I opened my mouth and uttered the one thing I never thought would pass my lips. "Crucio."

The spell hit me and my legs buckeled. I bit my lip trying not to make a sound, not a scream not a whimper. I tried to push it out. It's not real, it's just in your head, in your head, not real, not real... I just couldn't push it out, my mind over matter thoerey wasn't working, wasn't doing a thing I couldn't push it out. I had been able to when blasted Snape had but with Lyss I couldn't. In your head.

I felt every muscle in my body tense when Cass fell, expecting her to throw it off at any second. But she didn't. My heart thudded in my chest.

After very little time I ended it, unable to take it much longer. My right hand had clenched into a painful fist, nails digging into my palm, as I tried not to cry, or appear upset in any way.

I looked at the Carrow.

I tried to push it off again, for some reason Lyss casting it I couldn't push it off.

A Whimper escaped my lips.

I thought I heard someone say soemthing. The Carrow? I wan't sure. I couldn't concertrat on anything but breathing which was hard enough.

I lay panting on the cold floor of the blasted Carrow's office.

"That wasn't bad for a first time," the Carrow commented when I had looked at him. "It has promise."

I felt myself smirking at him. Getitng a Carrow to say something like about any form of torture was difficult.

Then I pulled myself to my thoughts. Why was I smirking and why wasn't it fake?

I sat up gingerly. "Well that woke me up."

I screached my arm and winced as pain jabbed through it.

I did the same with the other.

"Well now that that's over with," I said, "I'm going back to class."

With that, I walked from the room, paying Cassie no mind.

When I returned to the classroom, I sat down, pulling out a book to read and ignoring the noise that broke out in the room as I did.
