Cass and Lyss (The Summer between years one and two)

Lyssa shrugged and Cassie got her mum. About an hour later the two girls, having had a proper breakfast, were back in Cassie's room, trying to figure out something to do for the day, and mostly failing, since Lyssa turned down nearly everything Cassie suggested (whihc of course contained learning to swim).

So..." Cassie said. "We could play a board game?" She suggested.

"What kind of board game?" Lyssa asked.

"I dunno, scrabble? What other board games do we have," Cassie frowned.d

Lyssa shrugged. "I guess....if it passes time. I've never played though, so I'm bound to be horrid at it."

"It's an easy game." Cassie said and pulled out the board. She passed Lyssa a stand and got herself one. "Take seven letters." She said after taking her own seven letters out.

Lyssa took seven letters as well. "Now what?"

"Well you need to find a word in your letters and onnect it to words on the board. I'll go first. And as there are no words on the board I put down a random word." Cassie put down the word hello. (random word...)

"Ok..." Lyssa muttered, looking at the letters she had picked up. "So like," she said picking up a few letters, "I could add these letters and make the word owl coming from one of the l's?"

Cassie smiled. "Yep and then depending on how many letters you put down you pick up that many more letters from the bag." Cassie took five out at put them on her stand.

"Got it," Lyssa said nodding slightly "And is there a point to all of this?"

"Well you can score," Cassie said. "You get however many points for the ;eltter you put down, which is why the letters have those small numbers. Though I can never be bothered scoring but we can if you want?"

"I'd rather not, since it's bound to be less confusing with no scoring to think about," Lyssa replied. "I'd like to stay as unconfused as I possibly can."

Cassie smiled. "Alright."

They played for a while longer until they got bored with the game. With a sigh Lyssa fell back, as they were playing while sitting on the floor of Cassie's room. "Ok," she said. "I'm done with this game."

"I'm bored," Cassie said with a sigh. "What do you usaully do on holidays and junk?"

"Well, normally, the family would travel somewhere out of the country for a while, but when we were at home I would usually entertain myself with our library. It's huge and filled with all sorts of books. "

"Hrm," Cassiesaid.

"I have an idea," Lyssa said after a moment. "Since I know next to nothing about the Muggle world you can teach me about it, and in turn I can tell you some stuff about the wizarding world, since you can't have picked up too much in only a year of Hogwarts."

"I suppose..." Cassie yawned.

Lyss shrugged. "It's just...I don't really like not knowing things, because then I end up looking ridiculous, and my pride won't allow that," she muttered. "And...I feel incredibly out of place here. I think maybe that if I knew some stuff I wouldn't feel that way so much anymore..."

Cassie shrugged again. "Well what do you want to know?"

"Well, seeing as I know basically nothing, everything really?" Lyssa said with a minor shrug. "Just pick something."

"Um..." Cassie said unsure of what to say. "I dunno..."

"Well I sure as hell don't know," Lyssa said.
